If your age is between 15 and 29, you can submit not later than February 28, 2021 an application to participate in the “Youth4Climate: Driving Ambition”, the event reserved to young people from all over the world, which will be held in Milan from 28 to 30 September 2021, in the framework of the COP26 Conference of Parties, scheduled in Glasgow between 1 and 12 November 2021, and dedicated to the actions to be taken worldwide to tackle climate change. For each of the 197 countries, which are part of the convention UNFCCC, including Malaysia, two participants should be selected. Overall 400 young people are expected to participate, in compliance with even representation of gender, geographical balance and social inclusion.
The selection criteria reward the proven activity on the issues of climate change and sustainable development. Moreover, through the compilation of a questionnaire, candidates should demonstrate their strategic thinking, leadership and motivation, as well as the familiarity with climate change issues.
Knowledge of the UNFCCC process and previous experience in multilateral climate negotiations, including expertise in drafting technical and/or political proposals and documents, will be positively considered.
The first two days of Youth4Climate will be dedicated to theme-based working groups, while the third day will see a direct interaction between the young delegates and the ministers participating in the preparatory conference (preCOP26) to be also held in Milan in the following two days.
