Week of Italian Cuisine in the World 2024

The Embassy of Italy in Kuala Lumpur celebrates the 9th edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World (November 18-24), with the theme “Mediterranean Diet and Recipes of our Roots: Health and Tradition”. This year’s program focuses on the connection between health and Italian culinary traditions, emphasizing the acknowledged value of the Mediterranean Diet (recognized in 2010 as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage) in supporting a wholesome, balanced, and sustainable lifestyle.

In Malaysia, the Week of Italian Cuisine was presented by the Embassy of Italy in collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency in Kuala Lumpur and the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia (ItalCham). The inaugural event was held on November 14th, 2024, at the official Residence of the Italian Ambassador to Malaysia, at the presence of media representatives, professionals from various sectors of the F&B industry, importers, distributors, chefs, and key stakeholders in Italian cuisine, including representatives from culinary academies and universities.

Talk on the Mediterranean Diet and its health benefits by Prof. Margherita Dall’Asta, a Researcher in Human Nutrition at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Italy, and Researcher on the project OnFoods, the Italian research and innovation network for sustainable food and nutrition project “Research and innovation network on food and nutrition Sustainability, Safety and Security November 12, 2.30 PM – 3.30 PM – Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Monash University.
