Fare Cinema 2021

The fourth edition of ‘Fare Cinema’ (the festival dedicated to Italian cinema abroad promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, ANICA, ICE Agency and Istituto Luce – Cinecittà) will be held from 14 to 20 June, 2021.

It is an event that, right from the title (Reboot – Il Cinema italiano riparte), aims to underline the extraordinary reactive capacity demonstrated by the Italian cinematic industry in dealing with the pandemic crisis. It will, as usual, pay special attention to the cinema professions, through a series of original production realized with the partners of the event and subtitled in English.

In this playlist you can find (starting from June 14th at 3 pm Malaysian time)10 short videos and 2 video-clips with interviews and meetings which give the floor to the protagonists of the audio-visual industry. These are realized with the Fondazione Cinema per Roma and curated by Mario Sesti.

During the course of this week, online free screening will be offered through the platform MyMovies, under the project “Con la macchina da presa”, organized in collaboration with True Colours.

In Malaysia, with a maximum of 500 tickets per show, the following movies will be available:

  1. “Il vizio della speranza” (2018) directed by Edoardo De Angelis;
  2. “Fortuna” (2020) directed by Nicolangelo Gelormini;
  3. “Sembra mio figlio” (2018) directed by Costanza Quatriglio;
  4. “I moschettieri del re” (2018) directed by Giovanni Veronesi;

  2. “Luisa Spagnoli” (2016) with Luisa Ranieri, TV miniseries in two episodes, based on the biography of the founder of one of the most important Italian chocolate brands, “Perugina”

On the italiana Vimeo Channel you will find:

  1. five finalist movies within the category “Miglior Cortometraggio (Best Short film)” of the 2021 edition of the David di Donatello Award (at the link “Italian Screens”), thanks to the collaboration with the Accademia del Cinema Italiano and ANICA;
  2. three unreleased documentaries of about 20 minutes, narrating the shift from paper to screen of great novels over the years (at the link BookToScreen) through interviews with the authors, publishers, directors, actors and producers. The event has been made possible thanks to the collaboration with the Salone Internazionale del Libro di Torino (Turin International Book Exhibition);
  3. the entire series of short movies realized for the Corti d’Autore (short films) project in association with ANICA.

The Italian Cinema thus confirms itself to be an extraordinary narrative tool of the Country’s diverse reality, as it also appears in the marvellous locations of ItalyForMovies.

Fare Cinema will climax on Saturday, June 19th, with the celebration of the second International Day of Italian Cinema.
