Raffaele Langella

Raffaele Langella is the Italian Ambassador-Designate to Kuala Lumpur.
Born in Naples on 30 November 1966, he graduated in Business and Economics from the University of Naples in 1995. Following a competitive examination, he entered the Italian diplomatic service on 3 July 1995.
After his first assignment at the Directorate-General for Economic Affairs, he has served as Commercial Secretary at the Permanent Mission of Italy to the International Organisations in Geneva since 1999. In this context, he closely follows negotiations on services and intellectual property within the World Trade Organisation.
In 2002, he joined the Italian Embassy in New Delhi as First Commercial Secretary and, subsequently, as Commercial Counsellor.
In 2006, he returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he held the position of Head of Office III of the Directorate General for European Integration.
In 2009, he took up a post at the Permanent Mission of Italy to the EU in Brussels, where he served as Information and Press Counsellor.
Since July 2013, he has served in the Office of the Diplomatic Adviser to the Prime Minister and, in December 2015, he took up the post of Deputy Diplomatic Adviser to the Prime Minister.
In 2017, he was appointed Italian Ambassador to Singapore, also accredited with credentials as Ambassador to the Sultanate of Brunei.
Returning to Rome, in December 2021 he took up the position of Director of International Affairs at Confindustria, where in October 2023 he was appointed Director General and, subsequently, Diplomatic Adviser. Finally, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he has held the position of Coordinator for Multilateral Legal Diplomacy since December 2024.
In 2025, Raffaele Langella was appointed Italian Ambassador to Malaysia.
