On 23 June, the Embassy of Italy in Kuala Lumpur hosted ITALY MEETS UNIVERSITIES at the Residence of the Ambassador, an initiative aimed at strengthening academic and cultural ties between Italy and Malaysia. As stated by Ambassador Langella in his opening remarks – “the evening brought together lecturers, students, alumni and representatives of the Malaysian university community, who shared their enthusiasm and interest in current and future opportunities for cooperation between the two countries”.<\/p>\n
During the event, a photographic exhibition organised by the Embassy in collaboration with ANSA and Universiti Malaya was presented on the occasion of the 80th Anniversary of the Italian Republic. Through a selection of representative images, the exhibition retraced some of the most significant moments in Italy\u2019s contemporary history, from the birth of the Republic to the country\u2019s major cultural, scientific, social and sporting achievements.<\/p>\n
In his remarks, Ambassador Langella underlined how relations between Italy and Malaysia are not based solely on political and economic ties, but also on a cultural, academic and human dimension, of which initiatives such as ITALY MEETS UNIVERSITIES and the photographic exhibition are a concrete example. Along the same lines, the Head of Department \u2013 Asian and European Languages at Universiti Malaya, Nor Shahila Mansor, highlighted the value of cultural exchange and international dialogue, stressing how the collaboration between the Embassy of Italy, ANSA and Universiti Malaya contributes to strengthening mutual understanding between Italy and Malaysia.<\/p>\n
