Alternatively, applicants may use the original Lelaki\/Perempuan marriage certificate for registration of the marriage. If it is not possible to obtain an extract or duplicate and the applicant does not wish to use the original Lelaki\/Perempuan certificate, a certified true copy of the marriage certificate may be obtained from the same office that issued the original certificate.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"x1yc453h xma8rkl xgoqxah xutxfr x1fie51u xgyxj25 x1xobyvs x1elgs31 x1fv8qjw xcy5tzr x1ht4adc xnvauns x1c2l018 x14l7nz5 xuw7688 x1pjt2rx x160d6zm xrxpjvj\" dir=\"ltr\">The extract, duplicate, original certificate, or certified true copy, as applicable, <strong class=\"x7amdea\">must be duly legalized by the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Wisma Putra).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"x1yc453h xma8rkl xgoqxah xutxfr x1fie51u xgyxj25 x1xobyvs x1elgs31 x1fv8qjw xcy5tzr x1ht4adc xnvauns x1c2l018 x14l7nz5 xuw7688 x1pjt2rx x160d6zm xrxpjvj\" dir=\"ltr\">If the documentation is submitted correctly and in full, the applicants will receive an email confirming that the documentation intended for registration is complete and in order.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x1yc453h xma8rkl xgoqxah xutxfr x1fie51u xgyxj25 x1xobyvs x1elgs31 x1fv8qjw xcy5tzr x1ht4adc xnvauns x1c2l018 x14l7nz5 xuw7688 x1pjt2rx x160d6zm xrxpjvj\" dir=\"ltr\">All documentation must be submitted <strong class=\"x7amdea\">in original form<\/strong>. Original certificates cannot be returned to the applicants, as they must be retained in the family file held in the archives of the Consular Office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x1yc453h x1603h9y x1gtpwm6 x7amdea x1i21sxh xladpa3 x1iykcro xma8rkl x1fie51u xgyxj25 x1xobyvs x1fv8qjw x1a024ua x14l7nz5 x1pjt2rx x160d6zm xrxpjvj\" dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Certificates issued by countries other than Malaysia<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"x1yc453h xma8rkl xgoqxah xutxfr x1fie51u xgyxj25 x1xobyvs x1elgs31 x1fv8qjw xcy5tzr x1ht4adc xnvauns x1c2l018 x14l7nz5 xuw7688 x1pjt2rx x160d6zm xrxpjvj\" dir=\"ltr\">Applicants who are registered with AIRE (Registry of Italians Residing Abroad) and reside within this consular jurisdiction may submit their marriage registration request to this Embassy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x1yc453h xma8rkl xgoqxah xutxfr x1fie51u xgyxj25 x1xobyvs x1elgs31 x1fv8qjw xcy5tzr x1ht4adc xnvauns x1c2l018 x14l7nz5 xuw7688 x1pjt2rx x160d6zm xrxpjvj\" dir=\"ltr\">For certificates issued by countries other than Malaysia, applicants are advised to obtain the information necessary to complete the required formalities, including <strong class=\"x7amdea\">apostille or legalization<\/strong>, depending on whether the country concerned has ratified the <strong class=\"x7amdea\">1961 Hague Convention<\/strong>, by consulting the website of the competent Italian Embassy or Consulate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x1yc453h xma8rkl xgoqxah xutxfr x1fie51u xgyxj25 x1xobyvs x1elgs31 x1fv8qjw xcy5tzr x1ht4adc xnvauns x1c2l018 x14l7nz5 xuw7688 x1pjt2rx x160d6zm xrxpjvj\" dir=\"ltr\">Where certificates are accompanied by sworn translations &#8211; for example, documents issued in Brazil &#8211; the translations must not only be apostilled but must also clearly and legibly bear the wording <strong class=\"x7amdea\">\u201ctranslation conforming to the original.\u201d<\/strong> This declaration must be made by the same professional who carried out the translation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x1yc453h xma8rkl xgoqxah xutxfr x1fie51u xgyxj25 x1xobyvs x1elgs31 x1fv8qjw xcy5tzr x1ht4adc xnvauns x1c2l018 x14l7nz5 xuw7688 x1pjt2rx x160d6zm xrxpjvj\" dir=\"ltr\">Failure to comply with this requirement will result in the <strong class=\"x7amdea\">documents being deemed inadmissible and both the certificate and its translation being returned to the applicant<\/strong>, who will then be required to complete the necessary formalities before resubmitting the documentation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"For a marriage celebrated abroad to have legal effect in Italy, it must be registered with the competent Italian Municipality.
