The signing of the\u00a0 Cultural Agreement\u00a0 between\u00a0 Malaysia and Italy on 17 February 1990 constitutes the first impulse towards the intensification of cultural relations between the two Countries. The main follow-ups were the reactivation of the Cultural Institute in Kuala Lumpur (\u201cfrozen\u201d in 1994), which re-enforced major continuity to our efforts in this sector, and the signing of the programme related to the Agreement of 1990.<\/p>\n<p>2. Types of cultural and university cooperation:<\/p>\n<p>a)\u00a0 Visiting lecturers: since the academic year 2000-2001 -beginning with the Bachelor programme in Italian Language by the Faculty of Language and Linguistics of University Malaya- the Italian Government provided University Malaya with 2 visiting lecturers. At the present only one lecturer is appointed for the academic year 2007-2008.<\/p>\n<p>b)\u00a0 Interuniversity cooperation:<br \/>\nI)\u00a0\u00a0 Memorandum of Understanding between University La Sapienza of Rome and\u00a0University Teknologi MARA located in Shah Alam<br \/>\nII)\u00a0\u00a0 Memorandum of Understanding between University La Sapienza of Rome and the Asia-Europe Institute of University Malaya<br \/>\nIII)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Research cooperation between professors of University Malaya and University of Florence (Entomology and Biology) and University of Siena (Molecular Medicine)<br \/>\nIV)\u00a0\u00a0Programme of exchange between the Faculty of Built Environment of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in Johor Baru and the Faculty of Architecture of University of Bologna<br \/>\nV)\u00a0\u00a0 Cooperation between the Faculty of Language and Linguistics of University Malaya and the University of Venice (Linguistics and Didactics of Italian).<\/p>\n<p>c)\u00a0 In 1999 the programme of scholarships \u201350 month grants- offered by the Italian Government to Malaysian citizens for the amount of Euros 30.987 began. Between 1999 and 2007 the following scholarships were awarded:<\/p>\n<p>2009 -2010\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a09 scholarships<br \/>\n2008 -2009\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a013 scholarships<br \/>\n2007-2008\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a015 scholarships<br \/>\n2006-2007\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 21 scholarships (90 months)<br \/>\n2005-2006\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 28 scholarships<br \/>\n2003-2004\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 15 scholarships<br \/>\n2002-2003\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 12 scholarships<br \/>\n2001-2002\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 8 scholarships<br \/>\n2000-2001\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a020 scholarships<br \/>\n1999-2000\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 22 scholarships<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"ITALIAN-MALAYSIAN CULTURAL AND UNIVERSITY COOPERATION 1.
