Lancio settimana cucina

The Week of the Italian Cusine in the World is an initiative promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. In 2025, it has been celebrated in over 100 countries with the theme “Italian cuisine: health, culture, and innovation”.

The Embassy of Italy in Kuala Lumpur, in collaboration with the ICE Agency – Kuala Lumpur Office and in partnership with the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia (ItalCham), has organized a series of initiatives and events in the framework of the Week of the Italian Cuisine in the World 2025:

  • the launch event on November 5 was an opportunity to present the schedule of initiatives to the public and the media. During the evening, which began with a performance by singers from the Kuala Lumpur City Opera, Ambassador Raffaele Langella highlighted the strong link between health, culture, and innovation as a distinctive feature of Italy’s culinary heritage. It was also recalled Italian cuisine’s nomination as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. The event, organized by the Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, enhanced the visibility of Italian restaurateurs in Malaysia. The launch in Kuala Lumpur also provided an exceptional showcase for various food industry operators, including Fabbri and Lavazza, as well as an opportunity for networking between importers and restaurateurs. Chef Enzo Carbone’s cooking show was very well appreciated, enchanting the Malaysian audience with his risotto preparation. The presentation by Prof. Luca Muzzioli (La Sapienza University) on the role of Italian food in proper and healthy nutrition also attracted considerable interest.
  • The presence in Kuala Lumpur of Luca Muzzioli (University of Rome – La Sapienza) as part of the ONFOODS project promoted academic dialogue and knowledge-sharing in the field of nutrition, highlighting the qualities of Italian eating habits in the pursuit of a healthy lifestyle. A particularly valuable public event was the dialogue between Prof. Muzzioli and Prof. Yang Wai Yew on November 6 at the Prince Court Medical Center. Over a hundred people followed the dialogue between the experts with great interest. Prof. Muzzioli also gave a lecture on nutrition, the Mediterranean diet, and ultra-processed foods at Sunway University in Kuala Lumpur.
  • Finally, several promotional initiatives in 20 Italian restaurants across Malaysia were organized by the Italian Trade Agency Office in Kuala Lumpur and the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia (ItalCham).
