Italy at Sepang 2025 | ‘Racing Beyond Borders: Italy and the Motorcycle Passion’

On the occasion of the 2025 Petronas Grand Prix of Malaysia, Ambassador Raffaele Langella welcomed the President and Director General of the Italian Trade Agency (ITA), Matteo Zoppas and Lorenzo Galanti, for Italy at Sepang, a two-day business-matching event (25-26 October) organised at the Sepang International Circuit by ITA together with Federmoto, ANCMA, EICMA and with the collaboration of Dorna Sports S.L.

The event, hosted in the ITA Lounge within the Sepang International Circuit, facilitated B2B meetings between 10 leading Italian companies in the sector (Pirelli, Brembo, Piaggio, Acerbis Motorsport, Rizoma, Alpinestars, Dainese, Gaerne, Givi and Athena Motorsport) and 39 operators from numerous APAC countries, including Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, India, China, Japan and Australia.

On the afternoon of Saturday, 25 October, the event ‘Racing Beyond Borders: Italy and the Motorcycle Passion’ featured speeches by the CEO of Dorna Sports S.L., Carmelo Ezpeleta, the President and General Manager of ITA Matteo Zoppas and Lorenzo Galanti, the President of Federmoto Giovanni Copioli and the President of ANCMA Mariano Roman. In his welcome speech, Ambassador Langella emphasised the growing importance of sport as a tool for growth diplomacy. ‘Sports diplomacy is an innovative and effective way to promote Italy around the world and to foster new commercial partnerships. Together, as a team, we promote the values of sport and the quality of Made in Italy’ – Ambassador said.

The event also provided an opportunity to preview the trailer for the video-series ‘Moto d’Italia’, produced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in collaboration with ITA, Federmoto, ANCMA, EICMA and Dorna Sports. Presented in Sepang, one of the temples of world motorcycling, the audiovisual project highlighted the quality of Italian manufacturing in the two-wheel sector and the great potential of sports tourism.
