The Politecnico di Torino was founded in 1859 as Scuola di Applicazione per gli Ingegneri (Technical School for Engineers), and it became Regio Politecnico di Torino in 1906. A long history, which bore out theUniversity as a reference point for education and research in Italy and in Europe, a Research University ofinternational level which attracts students from more than 100 countries and which activates about 800collaborations per year with industries, public institutions and local organizations.

For more than 150 years, the Politecnico di Torino has been one of the most prestigious public institutions at both the International and the Italian levels concerning education, research, technological

transfer and services in all sectors of architecture and engineering.

Moreover, the first year of all the other engineering programs is also offered in English.

Students wishing to enrol in an Engineering Bachelor Degree program must pass an admission test whose contents are explained on the following webpage: http://orienta.polito.it/Prova_ammissione.html.

After filling in the online application APPLY@POLITO (see next paragraph), the applicant will be able to visualize useful materials to train for the test (training samples, tutorials and so on).

Degree programs in Architecture have a selective entry access defined by national standards.

The selective admission test will focus on general knowledge, with particular relevance to the historical, social and institutional fields and capacity to work on written texts of various kinds (artistic, literary, historical, sociological, philosophical, etc.) and attitude to abstract-logical reasoning both in mathematics and language fields.

European and Non European citizens must sit for the Architettura-Architecture and Design e comunicazione visiva admission test on April 10th, 2014 (as defined by the Italian Ministry of Education at this link: http://attiministeriali.miur.it/anno-2014/gennaio/av-13012014.aspx).

In order to enrol in Architecture programs in the past year, students must both be included in the number of available places set every year by Politecnico for European and non-European students residing outside of Italy, and achieve a minimum score during the admission test.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

To be admitted to Bachelor and Master of Science programs, it is necessary to have a knowledge of the

language in which the course is taught of B1 level. The applicant must attach the required certificate in the

online application form.

HOW TO APPLY

APPLY@POLITO is the online application service of the Politecnico di Torino available on

http://apply.polito.it/info_en.html. Through this service it is possible to apply for different programs (Bachelor,

Master of Science, 1st and 2nd level Specializing Masters, PhD).

For the 2014/2015 academic year it is necessary to register and submit the online application within 20th

March 2014 (deadline for Bachelor and Master of Science programs).

After going through the evaluation of the International Admissions Office, the academic career and the

quality of each candidate are assessed by a Committee of Professors which will determine whether the

applicant meets the entry requirements for a specific program.

The eligible students or admitted to the test for a Master of Science program, will find the results of the

selections procedure in their personal page of the online application form.

The evaluation of an application through the online service does not exclude the pre-enrolment procedure in

compliance with the rules decided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Non-UE citizens residing abroad

http://www.studiare-in-italia.it/studentistranieri/ : the enrolment to Politecnico will be possible only after

completing the compulsory pre-enrolment procedure through the Italian Embassy/Consulate. Since many

foreign students are interested in studying at Politecnico, also submitting the online application is mandatory:

this way Politecnico will be able to evaluate applications in large advance and it will be easier for the offices

to support and guide prospective students during the different steps (welcome, enrolment, etc.).

SCHOLARSHIPS

Applicants can apply at their arrival to the call “Edisu Piemonte scholarships”(http://www.edisu.piemonte.it/). Edisu scholarship winners have an amount of money (it means tuition fees exemption as well), accommodation and students’ canteen.

Internationalization projects: the Politecnico di Torino offers scholarships for international students enrolled in Engineering and Architecture programs. Italian government Bursaries for foreign and I.R.E. students: the Foreign Affairs Ministry offers every year a certain number of grants (Borse di studio del Governo Italiano) to international students and to Italian students living abroad.

Italian language knowledge (B2 level) is fundamental to apply for this kind of scholarship.
